The Challenge

SLB sought to establish a manufacturing facility that would leverage the global technology company’s capabilities in contract manufacturing, system integration and industrialization of digital infrastructure equipment that support its core mission of energy innovation for a balanced planet.

The Opportunity

To secure the project in Shreveport, the state of Louisiana offered SLB a competitive incentives package that includes:

Recruitment and training support from Louisiana’s nationally recognized workforce development program, LED FastStart.

Performance-based grant of $4.5 million for building and infrastructure improvements upon meeting investment and employment targets.

Up to a 6 percent rebate on annual payroll expenses for up to 10 years, and a 1.5 percent project facility expense rebate for qualifying expenses, through the state’s Quality Jobs program.

Noteworthy

  • SLB, formerly known as Schlumberger, has subsidiary operations in Morgan City, New Iberia, Berwick and Broussard. It is one of the top employers in Lafayette Parish, where it announced in 2022 it will invest $11.5 million to centralize its North Gulf Coast divisions in a centralized hub.
