Origin Materials

Geismar/Capital Region

The Mission

Origin Materials is a carbon-negative materials company committed to leading the global transition to sustainable materials.

The Challenge

The company needed access to an extensive supply of locally sourced timber to support its vision for a renewable manufacturing plant that would utilize sustainable wood residue to produce precursors used to make packaging, textiles, apparel, tires, and other applications, including fuels.

The Opportunity

Louisiana offered Origin Materials a competitive incentives package:

“The local talent is world-class across refining, forestry and agronomy, feedstock logistics and chemicals. The site sits along the Mississippi River with easy access to barge and rail and plentiful local wood residue feedstock. The proposed incentive package for building in the area is compelling and the local industrial cluster can provide access to hydrogen, ethylene, water treatment and more.”
