Louisiana Business Site Search Website Gets High-Tech Revamp
BATON ROUGE, La. — The newly enhanced Louisiana Site Selection Center website was launched today to help businesses search for and secure prospective sites and buildings throughout the state. The web-based tool for attracting businesses and industries to Louisiana is sponsored by Entergy Louisiana, with Louisiana Economic Development and economic development organizations and chambers of commerce statewide as partners.
Designed to meet the modern needs of various economic development allies, the Site Selection Center consists of an easy-to-use platform with enhanced search and property management tools. The revamped site uses a combination of geographic information system, or GIS, technology, business analysis and demographic data to give users the ability to quickly access Louisiana’s available commercial sites and resources.
“We’re pleased to provide the new Site Selection Center to our economic development partners, as we know this dynamic platform will assist in driving viable businesses to Louisiana,” said Ed Jimenez, director of business development at Entergy Louisiana. “Our commitment to growing the state’s economy stands firm, and we’re confident the new website will further position Louisiana as a serious contender for new opportunities.”
The Site Selection Center was the first of its kind when it was put into service in 2008, and it quickly became an important tool used by economic developers, site selection consultants and businesses. Now, after combining years of experience and feedback from partners, the upgraded property search tool includes enhanced features, including:
- Expanded GIS data tools, allowing visitors to filter for a variety of site suitability characteristics, such as proximity to rail routes, major highways, schools, ports and other features. A graphic layering of those characteristics can be created for available business and industry sites.
- Optimized website performance for mobile devices, providing easy, convenient access to all site features.
- In-depth parish and community profiles with rich data on local demographics.
- Easy sharing of site information and properties with other parties.
- Dynamic ability to embed videos featuring industrial properties.
- Drive-time and other filters available for data and reports.
- For site owners who desire privacy, the ability to market properties privately on the site with exclusive access.

Entergy’s region is home to the largest industrial base in the United States, with direct access to raw materials, a favorable business climate, an expansive infrastructure, a skilled and affordable workforce and competitive utility costs.
Site Selection magazine recently recognized Entergy as one of the nation’s Top 10 utilities in economic development for the 10th year in a row. Area Development recently ranked Louisiana No. 5 in the U.S. among the 2017 Top States for Doing Business, the seventh consecutive year Louisiana has placed in the Top 10.
The LED Certified Sites program has assembled more than 80 shovel-ready industrial sites that have been thoroughly vetted through extensive engineering analyses, making Louisiana among the top states in the U.S. for development-ready sites.
