Southland Steel to Conduct April 28 Job Fair in Amite

AMITE, La. — On April 28, Southland Steel Fabricators will conduct a job fair to identify potential employees for hourly positions at its manufacturing facilities in Amite and Greensburg, Louisiana. Working in partnership with LED FastStart®, Southland Steel will conduct the job fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, at the Florida Parishes Arena and Event Center, located at 1301 NW Central Ave. in Amite.

The company is hiring for a variety of positions at its Amite and Greensburg sites, including painters, fitters, welders, material handlers, kettle operators, sandblasters, sub-arc welders, estimators, combo welders, maintenance technicians, QC coatings inspectors, and CNC operators.

“Our highly skilled manufacturing workforce is what encourages so many companies to invest and reinvest in Louisiana, and LED FastStart is proud to partner with Southland Steel to connect these skilled workers with great jobs,” said LED FastStart Executive Director Paul Helton. “Our LED FastStart team is supporting in the recruiting, screening and orientation process for Southland Steel, and we are excited to see the results.”

Pre-registration for the event is encouraged at LEDFastStart.com/SouthlandSteel. Job fair participants are asked to bring their résumés, photo ID and Social Security card with them to the job fair. Face-coverings or masks are required to participate in the event, and social distancing measures will be followed.

Job seekers who progress in the application process will go to onsite interviews conducted by Southland Steel.  Interviews may vary based upon position: A welder will need to take a weld test, and a fitter will need to take a fit test at a later date.
