Register For Louisiana’s Premier Residential Construction Seminar
BATON ROUGE, La. — Registration is now open for the Residential Contractors Seminar, one of three key programs in the Louisiana Contractors Accreditation Institute. LCAI’s latest Residential Contractors Seminar will be conducted remotely for contractors throughout the state. Due to social distancing restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic and to enhance the learning experience, the 10-week course will be presented via web-based video conferencing.
Registration will continue through July 17. To register, visit OpportunityLouisiana.com/LCAI-RC and click the “Register Now” button.
The course will be offered from July 20 to Sept. 23. It will feature two-hour sessions twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. All information and materials presented in the sessions will focus on residential construction. A $350 fee covers the cost of the course and materials.
Topics to be covered include print reading; building calculations; site work, demolition and construction; foundations, formwork and retaining walls; finishes; roof structures; structural loads; wood framing construction; related trades; special construction and equipment; and safety codes.
The seminar provides technical knowledge essential for a contractor to take advantage of business opportunities in the residential construction industry, from new residential construction to home improvement projects.
A training institute for general contractors, LCAI was launched in 2016 by Louisiana Economic Development, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System and the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors. The residential seminar was added in 2019. Since 2016, more than 900 participants have graduated from the contractor seminars.
