Southland Steel Postpones Wednesday Job Fair In Hammond

HAMMOND, La. — Southland Steel Fabricators Inc. has postponed the company’s job fair that had been scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, at Northshore Technical Community College in Hammond. Supported by LED FastStart®, Southland Steel is hiring 70 workers for skilled welding positions at its manufacturing facilities in Amite and Greensburg.

Once COVID-19 restrictions are removed, the job fair will be rescheduled at the 111 Pride Drive campus near the Hammond Northshore Regional Airport.

In the interim, interested job candidates may continue to apply for positions by going online at SouthlandSteel.com and clicking on the “Careers” tab. Once there, follow the directions for submitting an application.

Last year, Southland Steel announced an $18 million expansion at the former Bradken foundry in Amite. In conjunction with the expansion, the company is hiring candidates for the following positions: flux core welders, structural welders, structural fitters and structural welder/fitters.

Job candidates who are called in for a welding test will be required to bring their weld-test equipment and attire to their scheduled weld test appointment, which will be in the Southland fabrication shop located at the company’s Greensburg facility.
